Our Favorite Campground

Salt Creek Campground is a county park on the north shore of Washington's Olympic Peninsula. We visited this park four years ago, upon a recommendation of fellow RVers. The sites are positioned on a hillside overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca (large waterway between Washington State and Victoria, B.C., Canada). The photo on the left is the view from our motorhome. Spectactular views of the water with ship traffic entering Puget Sound or Victoria harbor make enjoyable viewing during daylight hours. Trails along the cliffside lead to steps down to the tide pools along the coast.

Salt Creek campground is on the former grounds of Camp Hayden, a WWII army post with large guns positioned to protect Puget Sound from enemy ships. The large guns were never fired and the property later sold to the county.

This is a jewel for camping, scuba diving and enjoying the scenery. Just don't tell too many campers...there are only a few first come, first served sites.
