Drive the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park (Black Hills of South Dakota) during early morning hours, when the animals are grazing on lush vegetation and watching tourists. Our count equaled dozens of Buffalo, several Prong-horn, some Mule Deer, a Coyote and blackbirds. The park is very green from spring rains, providing ample feeding grounds for the animals.
Sylvan Lake is a jewel in the Hills, noted for the rock-lined lake that provides scenic hiking and rock climbing. Our choice was hiking around the base of the lake...watching the eager rock climbers ascend to the top of the cliffs.
