What a surprise to drive through the Badlands National Park in cool weather. We enjoyed the drive across South Dakota - draped in lush green grass from spring and summer rains. Nearing the Badlands, the sky darkened and temperatures dropped. We braved the brisk winds (with extra sweaters and jackets) to visit several of the overlook trails - before heading for a campground. Hoping the weather tomorrow brings sunshine to brighten the clay hills of this unusual landscape.
The next morning brought sunshine to brighten the landscape - bringing a contrast between the grey/yellow clay and green grass. We marvel at the lush grass growing on the clay hills.

Just wondering if Dick got his Dutch treats?
Before we left NW Iowa (Dutch Country), we stopped at Casey's Bakery in Sioux Center for Dutch Licorace and Windmill Cookies. These were essential goodies for our trip!
You were in Sioux Center, and didn't stop to say hi?
Thanks for the insight into cookies and licorace.
What concerns me is the lush grasses. Please bring some back home with you!
