Music - Music - Music

July was musical celebration, beginning with the FRUSTRATED MAESTROS performance at the Motorhome Rally in Essex Junction, Vermont (July 1-5). Dick played trombone with the band; Marge joined the alto section of the chorus. We enjoyed the music and social times with friends.

Lenox, Massachusetts was our next musical stop for a Tanglewood performance of the Boston Pops (July 18th). Arlo Guthrie was the featured artist: "We Are The World..". The Pops introduced a new composition written in memory of the Kennedy Brothers. Alec Baldwin was the narrator for this piece.

July 25 - 30th found us in Bethel, Maine for Jazz Camp (for grown-ups). Dick was part of a Jazz Octet, led by Jeff Galindo (trombone artist and professor at Berklee College). Each morning the group rehearsed jazz riffs, followed by an afternoon session on improvisation. After dinner, the group rehearsed more tunes. The final performance was on July 30th, with Jeff's band playing several jazz numbers -- including Dick's solo rendition of "Georgia".

Returning to Tanglewood at the end of July, we ended the month with a Performance of the Boston Symphony with Yo-Yo Ma. We sat in on the Saturday morning rehearsal and had a front row seat...our Sunday performance seats were a distance from the stage.

Music was July's theme...a lovely way to enjoy the northeast.

I'm so proud of Dick! I wish I could see his solo rendition of Georgia, maybe next time I come down. It sounds like music was definitely a great theme for July. -Carla
