Big Bend National Park is rarely visited this time of year...because it is HOT and dry. We were one of few travelers at the Rio Grande Village campground (only one with plug-ins). We watched the Roadrunners and Turkey vultures. The river is very muddy but we met a group of scouts that kayaked here. One of the other attractions was the collection of Mexican articles placed (illegally) to attract American dollars. The park warns tourists to avoid buying these articles as the Mexicans have to cross the border (illegally) to collect the money. Border patrol were in abundance on the highways, but did not seem to be concerned about our travels.
