Colorado Life

So much to talk about with this blog entry! We spent all day Monday at the Curecanti National Recreation area (three dams over the Colorado River) and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Forest. The Curecanti area was open water reservoirs for boating, wind-surfing and other water activities. This area was named a National Monument by President Hoover and upgraded to a National Park by President Clinton.

The Black Canyon was carved by the Gunnison river. We met a family from Palm Beach, Florida at one viewing spot.

Tuesday was our day for visiting Crested Butte and the ski lift to the top of Mount Crested Butte. The ride smooth with a carpet of wildflowers below and blue skies above. We hiked to the summit to see the spectacular view. On the way back to Gunnison, we drove off toward Taylor Creek Reservoir and discovered one of Colorado's best trout fishing paradises.
