We experienced full campgrounds in Colorado - quite different from the rest of the country. Perhaps, it's the month of August? After getting a "no room" response from four campgrounds near Lake City (Gunnison National Forest), we found a small place that had one site available.
The mountains are so green, as rains have been generous. We made reservations in Gunnison for the next two nights, then a State Campground on a lake for the following two nights. Crossing the Continental Divide twice today was the highlight of the day.
