This State has several mountains that are 14,000 feet or more. We drove up the "Collegiate Scenic Drive" to view Mountains Yale, Harvard, Columbia and Oxford (at a distance). Our trip took us over the Independence Pass toward Aspen. The roadside signs warned drivers of vehicles over 30 feet to avoid this drive. Our View is only 24 feet long and we confidently proceeded up the road. This was a "white knuckle drive" with narrow, winding roads and steep drop-offs on the side of the road. After reaching the pass, we traveled on toward Aspen where the road narrowed; the passenger side mirror had to be pulled in to make some of the curves. We took the long way around the pass to our campsite...traveling past Vail, Breckenridge and Copper ski areas.
