Southern California visit with Christa, who met us in Ventura. Our first day's adventure was a trip to Anacapa Island (part of the Channel Islands National Park). The island is stark and deserted, except for hundreds -- perhaps thousands -- of seagulls. The baby seagulls were learning to fy. We saw and heard the many brown seals, and were treated by a big blue whale that circled the boat on the way back.
Our second day trip was to Ojai, California where we visited the shops (bookstore) and hiked in the Los Padres mountains.
The next destination is the California Central Coast.
