The elephant seals were performing for us today, as we traveled north toward Monterey. The males rooted and roared in the sea, while the females laid on the beach. Sounds like a good plan to me?
We toured the Hearst Castle and it met our expectations for opulence. The summer home of a wealthy publisher hosted guests from Hollywood: Charlie Chaplin and other silent movie stars.
This is a beautiful state with blue skies, wonderful scenery and fields of vegetables and fruit.
