Yellowstone - At Last

The overcast sky has gone, sunshine warms the air and Yellowstone Park's magic was all around. During the morning hours, several elk were eating grass near the roadside...ignoring the tourists with cameras. Our first stop was to marvel at Lewis Falls with its fast moving waterfalls from spring thaws of heavy snow.

The Old Faithful geyser area attracts international visitors and does not fail to provide entertainment. We checked into a room at the historic Old Faithful Inn before viewing the geyser show. This reliable geothermal event is relatively predictable and crowds form to watch the geyser erupt. A new visitor center at the Old Faithful area provides an educational exhibit on the science of the geyser area. Yellowstone has earned a reputation for delighting the over three million (annual) visitors to this park.
