Our first stop was to see Devils Tower. This massive structure stands out in an otherwise flat landscape. We took the trail around the base of the Tower, taking photos from all sides.
The real adventures began when we decided to drive into the Big Horn Mountains and stay at a National Park campground, situated at 7900 feet. The road was excellent and the views lovely...that is, until we encountered snowbanks. The campground was closed due to snow, so we drove on to an intersection. We took the southern road, but found it closed (probably due to a rock slide). Backtracking to the more northern road toward Cody, Wyoming we drove across a summit at 9400 feet, with five foot snowbanks on both sides of the road. The mountains appeared as though frosted with heavy layers of snow icing.
At last, we arrived at Cody, Wyoming...our stay for tonight.
