New Hampshire Welcome

After revisiting a campground favorite on Lake Winnepesaukee, we traveled to Franconia Notch State Park.  This jewel is located along Highway 93 in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  One of the stops is entitled "The Basin" because of a huge granite walled area that resembles a tub formed by centuries of river water flowing over the granite boulders.  Following the hiking trail leads to granite rocks with river streams where wading is allowed.
Our campsite for the night was near Echo Lake, at the base of Cannon Mountain, known for its rocky cliff that resembles a man's face in profile (hence the Old Man of the Mountain).  New Hampshire is "the Granite State) and the Man of the Mountain appears on the State Quarter.

Dick found another community band and received an invitation to play with the trombone section.  The Upper Valley Community band has been playing concerts in the Lebanon area for twenty-two years.  Their Monday night concert in the park included music from King marches, Lerner and Lowe Broadway tunes and Elvis music.
