Southern Hospitality in TN

Fall River Falls
After driving over winding, narrow country roads through eastern Tennessee, we found a lovely RV campground near Dayton.  The camp host went out of his way to provide us directions for our future drive to the Fall River Falls State Park.  He printed a detailed map that went around the sharp curves on the normal route, providing us with a perfect stress-free route.  The weather was perfect for hiking to view the several falls of the Fall River Falls State Park.  While pausing to catch our breath, a fellow hiker cautioned us to "watch out for the poison ivy along the route ahead" and wished us "God's blessing" with a smile.  Tennessee folks are simply friendly!

The Hermitage, located east of Nashville, is President Andrew Jackson's home.  This historic landmark offers a visit to his mansion, slave quarters and acres of gardens.  We spent several hours...traveling back in time to the era where women and blacks were not allowed to vote.  President Jackson was instrumental in expanding the United States, though at the expense of the Cherokee Indians.  Over ninety percent of the original wallpaper, floor coverings and furniture are found at The Hermitage.
