RV-ing, Now and Then

Shasta Trailer - 1950's

Dick with Poker Alice of Sturgis, SD

Two days at the Phoenix Cruiser USA plant in Elkhart, Indiana resulted in additions to our new motorhome...and several fixes we hadn't expected.  This small manufacturer places great emphasis on customer service, and demonstrated their unique mission to complete all work with excellence and integrity.  Before leaving this city, however, we made a visit to the RV/Motorhome Museum and Hall of Fame.  This large center has numerous motorhomes, all shapes and sizes (including one that was built by Paramont Pictures for actress Mae West.  Walking through a lane of old trailers and motorhomes, we discovered a Shasta trailer that is similar to one that was used by the Stallbaums (my family) on many summer vacations.  This Shasta was painted yellow, where ours was blue...but the interior was identical (even to the bunk where sister Phyllis slept).  Around another bend we found Poker Alice who invited Dick to sit and chat for a while.
