Graduation –
Texas Style
They say
that everything is bigger in Texas, and high school graduation traditions are
no different.
What a celebration of scrumptious
food, colorful parties and over-the-top decorations! The senior class of Cinco Ranch High School
in Katy, Texas graduated seven hundred thirteen young men and women on June 8th,
and Lauren Huisman was awarded for her academic achievements with “high-high
distinction”.
Our parties
began on Friday evening at the Cinco Ranch Golf Clubhouse with dinner and a
slideshow of photos produced by Stephanie Huisman. Friends and family enjoyed the buffet meal,
then wandered outside to pose for pictures in front of a fountain. The party-after party commenced around the
Huisman pool, lit by a row of tiki lights. As a surprise for the graduate, Anne arranged
for lawn decorations to announce Lauren’s milestone.
Saturday
began with breakfast on the Huisman patio, followed by the graduation ceremony
at a large indoor amphitheater, and dinner at Bonefish restaurant. Lauren’s evening continued with an all-night
lock-in at Dave & Busters, where she won a doorprize drawing of a Keruig coffee
maker.
Over 700
students were awarded diplomas during the graduation ceremony. The loudest applause, standing ovation, was for
a special-needs student who earned the respect of her classmates for courage
and dedication. A touching moment during
the two-hour long ceremony.
