Straits State Park, St. Ignace, Michigan

How delightful to camp near the shore of Lake Michigan, within viewing distance of the great Mackinac Bridge!  The boat traffic under the bridge competes for our attention with vehicle traffic crossing this longest bridge in the western hemisphere.  Daytime temperatures approach 80 degrees, but a cool breeze from the Lake keep us comfortable.  Hiking trails through the Cedar and Spruce woods took us to a platform for viewing this majestic bridge.  One of the sights of the day was a ferry boat from the town of St. Ignace, Michigan to Mackinac Island.  This speedy boat sends a plume of water into the air as it sails across the divide.  Alas, tomorrow, we must find a laudromat (dirty clothes hamper is full) and grocery store.  Then, over the bridge to the other side of the Upper Peninsula.
