Cool Waters - Door County, Wisconsin

Camping near the shores of Lake Michigan in Door County, Wisconsin, is a refreshing way to spend summer days.  The cool breeze from crystal clear Lake Michigan, beneath tall pine trees and under blue skies...lovely.  Our first stop was at Point Beach State Forest, near Two Rivers.  The beach was within walking distance, but only a brave few (children) were wading near the shore.  Temperatures dropped to 52 degrees overnight, two blankets for sleeping!

Lake Michigan from Sturgeon Bay, WI

The second and third nights are at Potawamie State Park near Sturgeon Bay, at the southern end of Door County.  Door County is a popular vacation destination because of it's woods and clear lake waters.  This area is home to nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and artists.  Dick spent many summer sailing trips from Chicago to the waters near Door County.  The rocky coast made it difficult to anchor, but he found refuge in the many ports along the coast.  Lake Michigan was a sailing haven for Dick during his midwestern years.
Wishing he was aboard the sailboat in the distance?
